VIVOTEK's Camera Solutions Make Difference at Belgian Restaurant Chain

Besides good food, safety is also an important feature in today's restaurants. One of the most well-known and overall respected Belgian restaurant chains, Lunch Garden, took the opportunity to install a camera surveillance system while renovating the interior of their over 60 branches in operation across the country. They installed a high-end surveillance system to prevent pick-pocketing, hold-ups and to improve the overall safety-feeling for their customers and employees.
Security integrator Securipoint was appointed to help to achieve Lunch Garden's goals. In consultation with a Belgian VIVOTEK distributor, Optima Networks, it was decided to use the SD8121 as the camera and the DIVA platform from the Dutch company VDG Security as management/recording platform.
Solution
According to Mr Dini, Account Manager at Securipoint, the excellent price/quality ratio of the SD8121, together with the ability to offer an overview of big areas with their pan/tilt and 12x optical zoom capabilities were the two main reasons to choose this camera for this major project. Other big advantages are its compact, stylish and discreet design that blends into the interior.
Next to the cameras, each restaurant is equipped with a DIVA recorder. DIVA stands for Digital Intelligent Video Architecture, this system solution enjoys maximum flexibility and is - almost - unlimited expandable. Analog cameras can be read by an encoder module, whether or not equipped with video intelligence, and IP cameras are among the possibilities. The latter may be of standard- or mega pixel type, Also the High-end flexibility and customization of user interface layouts and the availability of different interfaces for interconnection with other systems (OPC, SNMP, XML...) make the difference to make this project a success.
Each recorder is centrally managed from the head quarter. the communication between each DIVA recorder and the management system is achieved via a VPN-connection with a fixed (large) bandwidth on the customer's fast 10Gb network backbone. Virtual Private Networking (VPN) aims to avoid an expensive system of owned or leased lines that can be used by only one organization. In our case it encapsulates data transfers using a secure cryptographic method between the Head Quarter and other branches which are not on the same private network so as to keep the transferred data private from other devices on one or more intervening local or wide area networks. So a dedicated security network is created.

Lunch Garden's high expectations, have been fulfilled by Securipoint's' skilled installation team, the - perfect suitable for the job - VIVOTEK cameras, and the flexible Diva management platform. The surveillance system will be extended to the majority of the restaurants throughout Belgium.
